Start Your DNA Fingerprinting:
Isolation of DNA from Human Cheek Cells.
.) Your protocol or procedure starts by collecting cheek cells containing the unknown DNA and the DNA from your suspects.
.) Transfer the cheek cells from the cotton swab to a conical tube and mix well.
.) Transfer 2 ml. of cells to a microcentrifuge tube.
.) Centrifuge a 6000 rpm for 1 minute.
.) Remove liquid saving pellet of cells.
.) Add mix of chemicals to remove Mg, buffer the solution, and digest proteins.  Finish by vortexing the solution to mix.
.) Place all tubes in 56 degree waterbath for 15 minutes.  Then vortex for 15 seconds to mix. Place float in boiling water for 10 minutes to lyse cells.  Now centrifuge again to leave DNA in the supernate (upper liquid).
.) Transfer supernate to a new clean .5 ml tube.  Place samples on ice.
.) Click above to procede to amplify your DNA.
